Why, and how did you become an artist?

I became an artist at a very early age, in elementary school.  I loved art.  The teacher always kept every piece of art I did. I continued on with my art.  I’m self taught, never went to art school, just practiced a lot to make it perfect, to become the artist I am today!

You’re also a novelist and a poet.  Please tell us a little bit about your books.  Would it be possible for you to share a poem with us?

Yes.. I love to write novels. They are children’s fiction. They’re about magical beings like faeries, elves ,brownie’s, pixie’s etc..about magical stones, that hold great powers, that have to be delivered to a great wizard before the magical stones fall into the wrong hands of an evil wizard…that would bring chaos to the magical realms of faery land.

Yes..I write poetry..this is a small poem I got published.

Fairy Gold
In woodland forests, many moons of old,
 lived woodland fairies,who guarded gold.
With in there tiny hands,a Golden key they held,
only submitting to the pure of heart.
Then only would the key, they let part.
So if its fortune you must seek,
to woodland fairies, you must be humble and meek.
They’ll sprinkle you with fairy dust,
putting you under a spell if they must.
And then if they find you true of heart,
  only then,their Gold,they’ll let part.

When you paint do you first see what it is you want to paint in your mind or does the painting and what it will be or what it will say, come to life as you paint?  Where do you find inspiration for your painting?

Okay, when I paint, I go online and look up many types of art works. I look at a fiction faery, how the body sit or stands…take that and draw it out. I then look for Clothes, like gothic, frilly dresses with lace,etc.. I will look up jewelry..adding it all into my painting, plus adding my background scene.  I always start with my background colors first. I then will sketch in my faery…or character afterwards, painting it in afterwards.

What has been your greatest challenge as an artist?

My greatest challenge was getting a painting done for a painting contest I had entered.  I had a deadline of only three days to finish it.  I am a perfectionist..so it had to be perfect,  Lots of repainting it over to get it just right. Yes.. I did win the contest!  I was so happy and proud I succeeded.  I believe in the Motto…Try and try again.  Nothing is very challenging until you succeed in it.

Is your art hanging or displayed in your home?  If so, where and how?  If not, why not?  What type of art (besides your own) hangs on your walls?
