Basset Hound Painting – Something New

Today is Day 18 of Art Every Day Month.  I’ll be spending my day sketching and doodling for tomorrow’s Crudoodle and will be sharing that with you tomorrow morning.  What I’d like to talk about is yesterday…
Yesterday, I woke up at 2:30 a.m.!
Yes, I know.  I don’t know why I woke up then, but I was wide awake and couldn’t face laying back down to toss and turn.  I, of course, came to the computer.
This is the result.

Basset Hound by Tori Beveridge
My 2:30 a.m. technique was a mixture of photomanipulation and digital painting.
Now, it’s not like I woke up saying I want to paint a Basset Hound.  In fact, I would say, I never once thought that I would have this guy in my gallery, after all it’s filled with fantasy characters, fairies, angels.. but, I do.
I like him.  I think I’m going to do more animals now, especially more dogs of different breeds, and cats.  If you’d like to see a larger version please visit my DeviantArt Gallery.
Oh.. my husband says that I have officially attained weird, eccentric artist status by waking up and painting a basset hound at 2:30 a.m..

  1. Thank you Molly. I really tried. I love their woeful expressions.

I use Paint Shop Pro and Photo Shop. They are both open at the same time and I transfer the art back and forth between them depending what I'm doing. For instance, I have many more brushes in Photo Shop than in Paint Shop Pro, so much of my painting is done there.
