This is a loose art journal page, because I wanted to do something a little larger than my journal allows. I’ve been doing quite a few small pieces lately and I wanted to stretch. I reached for a 9 x12 piece of mixed media paper.
I didn’t know what I was going to do, except that I wanted to do a face, and also to use some of my under papers.
I worked with gesso, gel medium, Faber Castell Gel Sticks, white acrylic and black ink, along with the collaged papers, which honestly, you really can’t see too well now.
The little bird was an afterthought and was cut from the under papers, along with the houses and the stripes on her dress.
I painted over the background more than once and added little doodles, because it needed something, but I wasn’t sure what.
