Day 2 of Thirty Paintings In 30 Days

A watercolor sunflower today. Next time I’ll have to remember to be a little lighter handed during the sketching.  The toughest thing for me is knowing how much water to use.  Sure is fun experimenting though. Day 2 Thirty Paintings in 30 Days

Thirty Paintings in 30 Days Challenge

Thirty?  Thirty.  Three, Zero.  30 in thirty days. This really is a challenge, especially for someone as new to painting as I am. I got to thinking… after thirty paintings, in thirty days, I won’t be so new.  I’ll be more practiced and all because I decided to jump in with both feet and take […]

Watercolor Flowers

My first attempts at watercolor flowers, because, right this minute my garden is full of, among other things, sunflowers. I don’t think I’ll ever do them justice, but I’m willing to try. …and something more colorful… I’m pretty happy with the way they turned out and they’ve definitely inspired me to paint more.

Summer Sunshine

We’re in the middle of a heat wave, with daily temperatures in the nineties.  It’s not a sunny heat wave. It’s a rainy one.  It’s humid, so humid, and raining so hard I think we are in the middle of a monsoon.  If the sun was out, it would be drier, but the temperatures would […]

ATC/ACEO Girls

Today I’d love to show you two new little aceos/atcs  that I did for art swaps.  They’ve been sent and received by their new owners, so I’m not ruining any surprises. This first one, done with ink and colored pencils, was for an Alice in Wonderland theme.  There had to be one red heart in […]

Your Heart

When I started this, I had no idea where I was going to go with it. First there was the heart on her dress, then another and another…. No matter how fragile you think you, or your heart are, don’t let those thoughts stop you from following your heart, your dreams.  Be brave!  Be daring! […]

A Tag and A Pear

For the longest time, my acrylics have been sitting and collecting dust… well all except my white, I use my white ALOT. I did a little ATC sized practice pear, and a tag for an exchange I’m taking part in Something tells me that white is no longer going to be the only acrylic paint […]

A Girl Filled with Inner Joy

“Pleasure is always derived from something outside you, whereas joy arises from within.”  ~ Eckhart Tolle Inner Joy done with Inks, Faber Castell Gel sticks, Acrylic and Collage on 9×12 water color paper.

Farm Fresh Sketches

My theme this past week seemed to have been centered on farms and freshness, thanks to Junelle’s Farmers Market Yum and Art Workshop.  This is the last week for it and I am slowly working through it and savoring every project.  I love it!  The nice thing about it is even though this initial workshop […]

Doodles and Sketches

There’s been lots of doodling and sketching happening here over the last few days, but no finished work, yet. This flurry of activity was prompted by two things. The first was a challenge by my mother to make some happy looking girls.  Smile, girls, smile! The second was that I joined Junelle Jacobsen’s Farmer’s Market […]

SOC Week 6

Week 6.  The final week.  How fast these six weeks went by.  It really is true that time flies when you’re having fun. Our colors for this last week were raspberry and tangerine, with a smudge, splash, or pop of lemon.   I will miss these deliciously colorful art prompts that inspired all those that […]

Mailing Alice and A Practice in Painting

Over on Angela Kennedy’s Community, Creative Souls, I took part in an ATC swap.  The theme was Alice in Wonderland.  Have I ever mentioned I love Alice in Wonderland?  I have adored the books, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass since I was a child and have read and reread them more […]
