What a busy week! How was your’s? I’m hoping it was wonderful and that you’re all set to have a fabulous and relaxing weekend. In between all the busy stuff that life throws at us, I did some doodles and a couple of quick little postcard size paintings. The doodles were done on two separate […]
This face only emerged after I gessoed over the one I had started which wasn’t working the way I had thought it would. I’m so glad I covered it up and let this girl come out. Lessons learned…gesso is my friend and to be flexible because every painting has a soul waiting to get out, […]
Today’s face is called “Everyone is Beautiful”. As you can see, I wrote those words in her hair. When I started to sketch her, I decided to grab my camera and photograph some of my steps. I have some friends who are beginning their face painting and sketching journey, encouraged by 29 Faces. […]
Face #2 is finished. Mixed media including water color, ink, colored pencil, graphite and acrylic. I know I shouldn’t take photos at night, but I wanted to share her with you today. The true colors are so much nicer (especially the background and the shadow under the nose) and the hair color is much richer. […]
Hello my friends. Happy February! I’m sketching and painting faces all month. What joy! I’ll be sharing all 29 of the faces a create for this year’s February 29 Faces art challenge. I love, love, love this challenge. I’m so excited to share my first face. I painted her after doing one of Life Book […]
OR.. Why I’m Behind In Life Book I’ve been playing catch up with Life Book 2015 watching some of the lessons for the first time. What I find interesting is what happens when I do the lessons, which explains why I am (or think I am) so far behind. I’ve actually watched most of the […]
Please, could someone tell me how I started today’s painting with soft pastel colors and a very light hand…. and ended up with this…. ?????? Please click to see a larger version of this loose 9×12 inch journal page worked in acrylics, colored pencil and ink. There was a serious disconnect between what I thought […]
This is yesterday’s painting. I had wanted to post it last night but the light was too bad to take a picture. This morning’s light was of course better, but the colors are not true, (despite all my editing attenpts) as the original has more pinkish red through out. Thirty Paintings in 30 Days
Monday again! It rolls around so quickly. Today I have two water color paintings for you and a sketch. First the sketch which I did in color pencils so I couldn’t erase my lines, a suggested exercise by Jane Davenport. Painting Seventeen is another drippy water color girl. Painting Eighteen is water color also […]
Hi everyone! Here are are my fifteenth and sixteenth paintings for the month. Both were done with water colors, acrylic and ink. The first one I also wrote a few notes to myself on the background before I started in graphite before I started, which peek through in spots. Thank you so much for having […]
Today’s painting is my fourteenth and is titled ‘Friends’. It’s dedicated to all of you and all of your friends. Thirty Paintings in 30 Days
